OFFICERS

A message from our president:

My name is Bree Gravel, and I am the President of Alpha Chi Omega. First of all, welcome to the University of Florida! You’re officially starting what I truly believe will be some of the most defining years of your life. As you go through recruitment, whether you’re currently a ball of nerves, pure excitement, or a little bit of both. I want you to know how proud we are of the courage it takes to explore new opportunities and open yourself up to the potential of sisterhood.

Moving to Gainesville from out of state was a huge transition, especially since I didn’t have a single familiar face to turn to. While I loved the independence of being at a school as big as UF, I knew I needed more than just things to do or a busy schedule. I wanted more than just a group of friends; I wanted a place where I could actually settle in and make this big campus feel small. I needed a group of people who would be there for the hard days and push me to always be the best version of myself and always continue to grow into a better version of myself yesterday.

I found all of that, and a lot more, at Alpha Chi Omega.

What I love most about this chapter isn’t just the fun events or the game days (though those are some of my favorite memories). It’s the fact that I never felt like I had to "perform" or be a certain version of myself to fit in here. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I could just breathe. The women in this house aren’t just my friends; they’re the people who hold me to a higher standard and walk through every high and low of college right by my side. Whether we’re stressed out in the library during finals week, grabbing a late-night bite, or showing up for our philanthropy, I’m surrounded by women who are as ambitious as they are genuine.

If I could give you one piece of advice as you head into recruitment, it’s this: Trust your gut. It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of the week, the outfits, or saying the "right" thing. But at the end of the day, pay attention to how you feel when you’re in each house. Ask yourself: Do I feel comfortable here? Could I see myself hanging out with these girls on a random Tuesday morning? Let that feeling of belonging be your guide.

Alpha Chi Omega is a place that values being real over being perfect. We’re a chapter that prioritizes meaningful connections, and we take so much pride in being a home for women who want to lead, grow, and truly belong. We aren't just looking for one "type" of girl; we’re looking for the girl who is ready to bring her own unique story to our home.

I am so incredibly excited for you to experience everything our chapter has to offer. This is just the beginning of a journey that will shape your time at UF and your life long after graduation. I truly can’t wait to meet you.

Sincerely,

Bree Gravel
